Cookie policy (EU) and data protection
Last updated: 27 July 2026
In short
The afthonios.com website only uses cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work: a session cookie to keep you signed in and, where applicable, a cookie remembering your language choice. We use no advertising cookies, no audience-measurement tools and no third-party trackers. That is why the site does not display a consent banner: consent is not required for strictly necessary cookies.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) when you visit a website. It allows the site to recognise your browser from one page to the next or from one visit to another.
The cookies we use
- Session cookie (better-auth.session_token): keeps you signed in to your personal account. Lifetime: 7 days. Strictly necessary — without it, signing in is impossible.
- Language cookie (NEXT_LOCALE): remembers the language in which you browse the site (French or English), from your first visit and when you use the FR/EN switcher. Strictly necessary for the requested service.
None of these cookies is used for advertising, statistics or tracking purposes. No browsing data is shared with third parties for profiling.
Third-party services
Payment: the website currently offers no online payment. Access to the courses is granted on request, after speaking with us. Subscriptions taken out previously are still managed by Stripe (stripe.com); if you open your Stripe customer portal, it uses its own cookies, in particular for security and fraud prevention, governed by Stripe’s privacy policy.
Videos: training videos are delivered via the bunny.net content delivery network, without tracking cookies.
Assistant: the site offers a conversational assistant. The text of your questions is sent to Anthropic PBC (United States) to generate the answer. Please do not enter sensitive data. This service sets no cookies.
Personal data protection
Data controller: AFTHONIOS CM Ltd, Neou Choriou 3, 8820 Latchi – Polis, Cyprus — info@afthonios.com. Data is processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Cypriot Law 125(I)/2018.
Data processed: your account information (name, e-mail address, encrypted password), your progress through the training courses, and the subscription and billing data processed by Stripe. We do not collect your payment card details: they are processed exclusively by Stripe. When you use the assistant, the text of your questions is processed to produce the answer; to limit abuse we keep only a daily counter tied to your account or, if you are not signed in, to a truncated network prefix — never your full IP address.
Purposes: providing the service (access to the training courses, account and subscription management), sending transactional e-mails (confirmation, password reset, invitations) and complying with our legal obligations. No commercial prospecting without your consent.
- Processors: Vercel Inc. (website hosting), Neon Inc. (database, hosted in the European Union), Resend — Plus Five Five, Inc. (transactional e-mails), Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. (payments), BunnyWay d.o.o. (video delivery), Anthropic PBC (conversational assistant). Resend and Anthropic PBC are established in the United States: these transfers outside the European Union are covered by the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses respectively.
- Retention: account data is kept for as long as the account is active, then deleted or anonymised, subject to legal retention obligations (in particular accounting obligations).
- Your rights: you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data. To exercise these rights: info@afthonios.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority (in Cyprus: the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection).
Changes to this policy
Should we ever introduce non-essential cookies (for example for audience measurement), a consent banner would be put in place beforehand and this page would be updated.
