Cookie policy

In short

The afthonios.com website only uses cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work: a session cookie to keep you signed in. We measure site traffic with a cookieless tool that stores nothing on your device and cannot identify you or follow you from one site to another. We use no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers. That is why the site does not display a consent banner: consent is required neither for strictly necessary cookies nor for measurement that does not access your device.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) when you visit a website. It allows the site to recognize your browser from one page to the next or from one visit to another.

The same rules apply to other information a website stores in your browser, for example in its session storage.

The cookies we use

• Session cookie (better-auth.session_token, prefixed with “__Secure-” on the secure site): set when you sign in to your account or your trial access, it keeps you signed in. Lifetime: 7 days, renewed when you use the site. Strictly necessary — without it, signing in is impossible.

Browser session storage

When you are signed in and view a course or a module, the site notes in your browser’s session storage that the view has already been counted, so that it is not recorded twice in your progress. This information disappears when you close the tab and is not shared with anyone. It is strictly necessary for tracking your progress.

None of these cookies is used for advertising, statistics or tracking purposes. No browsing data is shared with third parties for profiling.

Third-party services

Videos: training videos are delivered via the bunny.net content delivery network, without tracking cookies. The video player stores your playback settings (volume, mute, speed, quality) and its icons in your browser, under the bunny.net domain, so that they apply to the next video; this information is not used to track you. In the modules, it does not remember your playback position.

Audience measurement: we use Vercel Web Analytics, our host’s statistics tool, to see how many visits we get and which pages are viewed. It sets no cookies and does not store your IP address: the address, combined with your browser characteristics, is used server-side to compute a hashed identifier that changes every day, and is then discarded. The resulting statistics are aggregated, limited to our own site, and are neither sold nor used to profile you.

Assistant: the catalog’s conversational assistant sets no cookies.

Payment: the website currently offers no online payment. Access to the courses is granted on request, after speaking with us. Subscriptions taken out previously are still managed by Stripe (stripe.com); if you open your Stripe customer portal, it uses its own cookies, in particular for security and fraud prevention, governed by Stripe’s privacy policy.

Managing cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the session cookie, you will no longer be able to sign in.

Changes to this policy

Should we ever introduce non-essential cookies — for example an audience-measurement tool that sets a cookie, or an advertising pixel —, a consent banner would be put in place beforehand and this page would be updated.
