When AI is imposed: From shock to adoption

AI visual

Skipping stages to adopt AI faster is the surest way to lose ground a few months later.

The announcement has been made: AI is no longer optional in your team. Silence, objections, and cases that drag on: that’s denial, then anger, the normal path of any change you didn’t choose, which leads on to the neutral zone and then the restart. This module shows you what to do at each stage, whether you deliver the announcement or receive it.

~20 min at your own paceKey skill: Supporting AI AdoptionAvailable in FR + ENNo prerequisites

What you’ll take away

  • the map of the three moments of imposed AI, from Monday-morning shock to restart
  • a few ways through denial and anger without fighting them
  • a way to turn the zone of uncertainty into a testing ground for AI

Who it’s for

Managers rolling out AI in their teams, and team members who want to take ownership of a tool they didn’t choose, at their own pace.

Learning objectives

  1. Recognize denial, then anger, as normal protective mechanisms in the face of AI, not as a lack of professionalism.
  2. Work through early resistance: inform and listen without rushing to reassure, and dare to voice your fears, not hide them.
  3. Stay in the neutral zone described by William Bridges without running from it, and use this in-between time to test uses of AI.
  4. Put the new practices in place when energy returns: acknowledge what already works and have the team’s early adopters pass it on.
