Promoted for your expertise: Stop doing it all yourself

AI visual

Six in ten new managers stumble in their first two years, almost never for lack of skill.

You were promoted for what you do well, and now you’re asked to hand it over to others. This module supports you all the way: the time split that marks a balanced manager, the three forces that keep you in technical work, what AI can now take over, and the traps waiting for you after a year.

~20 min at your own paceKey skill: The Manager’s Stance and ResponsibilityAvailable in FR + ENNo prerequisites

What you’ll take away

  • the four activities that make up a manager’s job: producing, organizing, supporting, and transforming
  • the three forces keeping you in technical work: habit, enjoyment, and fear
  • the conversation to have with your own management on what you’ll stop doing

Who it’s for

Experts recently promoted to manager, and managers one or two years in who want to strengthen their stance.

Learning objectives

  1. Split your time between producing, organizing, supporting, and transforming, aiming for 40% support rather than 45% production.
  2. Recognize expert syndrome (habit, enjoyment, and fear) and, as soon as you’re promoted, negotiate the tasks you’ll stop doing.
  3. Hand over part of production and organization to AI, moving from the expert who answers to the manager who recommends.
  4. Hold steady over time: re-measure your time split every six months, keep learning, and stay close to other managers.
