Manager and team member: Meet each other halfway

AI visual

Many managers no longer want the role because it has become so heavy: this load is easier to carry together.

Many working relationships wear thin in a guessing game: expectations guessed rather than stated, refusals imagined but never voiced. This module shows you how to set the rules together, tell each other what you need, and build an adult-to-adult relationship where both sides win.

~20 min at your own paceKey skill: Manager-employee relationshipAvailable in FR + ENNo prerequisites

What you’ll take away

  • the question that sets up the partnership from the start: “How do you want us to work together?”
  • the quiet courage to say “I need help” or “I don’t agree”
  • a very simple first step to take this week, in a single conversation

Who it’s for

Managers and team members, when starting a new role or to rebuild a partnership that works for both sides.

Learning objectives

  1. Understand why the manager–team member partnership rests on shared responsibility, each taking a step toward the other.
  2. Clarify together who decides what with a four-level role agreement that also covers where AI fits.
  3. Discover the other person’s explicit and implicit needs through mirrored questions on what, to them, makes a good manager and a good team member.
  4. Express your needs without waiting for the other to guess, and maintain the partnership with a regular meeting on equal footing.
