One-on-ones in hybrid teams: Stay close to every team member

AI visual

A weekly meeting you never cancel: it’s often what holds the relationship between manager and team member together.

In hybrid work, the day is full of exchanges about the work—almost never about the person doing it. And attention naturally goes to those you see in the office. The one-on-one is the space left to truly understand each other: this module shows you how to protect it, raise what daily work leaves unsaid, and build it together.

~20 min at your own paceKey skill: One-to-One MeetingsAvailable in FR + ENNo prerequisites

What you’ll take away

  • the frequency guidelines and golden rule of a ritual you never drop
  • the four topics to go deep on, from career plans to the question of meaning
  • a set of opening questions and the 70/30 ratio, to listen more than you talk

Who it’s for

Managers who want a close, two-way relationship with each team member, on site or remote.

Learning objectives

  1. Protect the one-on-one: a regular meeting, separate from the project check-in, that you reschedule rather than cancel.
  2. Go deep on four topics other meetings skip: career plans, early warning signs, giving each other feedback, and meaning.
  3. Keep a listening ratio of 70/30 by replacing “How are you?” with specific opening questions.
  4. Vary the format—video, audio while walking, in person—and involve the team member in the preparation.
