Losing status or autonomy activates the same brain areas as physical pain: resisting is not a whim.
Feeling cornered by a sudden announcement, losing out in the change, incapable of keeping up, or simply overwhelmed by the pace: resistance has four faces, all human, all predictable. This module teaches you to recognize them, in others and in yourself, and gives you, for each one, the answer that turns an imposed change into one everyone makes their own.
What you’ll take away
- a framework of the three reactions to change, from survival instinct to analysis
- four ways to support people, from time to take ownership to introducing changes in stages
- the habit of checking the facts when fear shouts louder than reality
Who it’s for
Anyone experiencing or leading change who wants to understand the barriers to deal with them better.
Learning objectives
- Understand the three reactions to change (survival, connection, analysis) and identify the dominant one.
- Recognize the four feelings that block change: cornered, losing out, incapable, or overwhelmed.
- Answer each barrier with the right action: time to take ownership, transparency on gains, explicit support, change in stages.
- Accept your own resistance as a predictable reaction, the first step toward change that’s owned.
